ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL DETERMINANTS OF PSYCHOEMOTIONAL SPHERE OF WOMEN IN THE POSTNATAL PERIOD

Abstract

The results of theoretical review and empirical research of the psychoemotional status of women in the postpartum period are presented. The period of pregnancy and the postpartum period is generally considered an increased risk of mental illness. Many researchers believe that pregnancy and childbirth can become provocative factors in the development of already existing hidden disorders. However, there is a point of view that pregnancy and childbirth that normally pass can have a positive effect and even stop some manifestations of existing symptoms. The peculiarities of the psychoemotional sphere of women in the postpartum period are determined in comparison with non-giving women. Our study did not reveal that women in the postpartum period do not differ in expressive depressive symptoms. However, the role of deficit functioning is drawn to attention. That is, they determine the significant impact of physical condition on routine activities – reflecting the degree of limitation of day-to-day activities related to the care of the child. According to the results of our study, there are some positive effects in the subjective assessment of psychophysiological processes, from the part of women who gave birth, which are associated with a sense of physical and mental well-being. A comparative analysis of the subjective assessment of psychophysiological processes shows more psychological and physiological well-being of women who gave birth to a child, which is associated with their self-realization as mothers. A comparative analysis of personality traits showed that women in the postpartum period are more extroverted and less neurotic and anxious than women from the comparison group. Women in the postpartum period are also more sociable, active, impulsive, searching for a new powerful external stimulation. Such women are also more prone to leadership, more physically and verbally active, friendly, cheerful, optimistic, and so on.
