ANALYSIS OF VIEWS ON THE EVOLUTION OF PARENTHOOD IN THE WORKS OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIOLOGISTS

Abstract
The article shows how as a result of the transformation of society in the ХХ century complex changes of the institute of the family take place. The topicality of the publication is also grounded on the growth in society of the total estrangement of family values. The family as a multifunctional social institution has a complex internal structure, but the mechanisms of parenting relationship provide the realization of main family functions – birth, maintenance, and socialization of the child. Specificity of parenthood in different families and pluralization of parenting forms are the consequences of the modern transformation of the family and different types of family associations. The rules and norms that existed in the last century have weakened, due to the reduction of the level of the social control. As a consequence, the institution of marriage and the institution of parental authority acquired a certain level of autonomy and the complication of the interrelationship between them. The form of parenthood is fundamentally changed in families that emerged as a result of modernization of marriage and family behaviour of the population: family with single parent, restructured family, family with long-distance marriage. Based on the works of the contemporary sociologists, the peculiarities of their views on the evolution of the institution of parenthood are determined. Different aspects of the development of parenthood as a holistic social institution are distinguished, through the assessment of its changes in society. This publication does not cover all aspects of the problem. The study and development of the parenting is identified as an urgent task in conditions of demographic changes.
