Analytical Approaches to Cultural Communication Product Tales

Journal Title: The journal of international civilization studies - Year 2023, Vol 8, Issue 2

Abstract

Fairy tales shed light on the deep and mysterious world of communication through different analytical approaches. Jean-Michel Adam's Fairy Tale Analysis treats fairy tales as a means of communication through symbols and motifs. This analysis shows that fairy tales are not just texts, but function as a way of decoding cultural codes. The E. M. Meletinski Method, on the other hand, considers fairy tales as a product of cultural communication. According to Meletinski, fairy tales bear the traces of narratives from different social contexts, which provide clues about the values and thoughts of a community. The Julien Greimas Method emphasizes the way fairy tales communicate through symbols. Through symbols, fairy tales can convey deep meanings and emotions. Tzvetan Todorov's approach sees fairy tales as a communication between balance and imbalance. Fairy tales are communicative tools that invite readers to embark on a journey to restore balance. Vladimir Propp's Functional Analysis examines fairy tales as communications of specific functions. Characters weave webs of communication, interacting with each other to move the story forward. These analytical approaches help us analyze the inner communication of fairy tales and better understand their world of meaning.
