Applications of zeolite-based catalysts in CO_2 utilization
Journal Title: Energy Environmental Protection - Year 2023, Vol 37, Issue 2
Abstract
Development of highly efficient CO_2 conversion technologies is key to advancing carbon capture and unitization (CCU), being very important to achieve the China′s carbon neutral climate goals. Zeolites are microporous and crystalline aluminosilicates with good stability and have shown the promise to be applied as the catalysts to promote CO_2 conversion processes. Here, this review provides the state-of-the-art advances of zeolite-based catalysts for CO_2 conversion with special focus on CO_2/CH_4 dryreforming, CO_2 hydrogenation and that promoted by non-thermal plasma activation. Based on the critical review, perspectives of rational design of zeolite-based catalysts are proposed to maximize CO_2 conversion and target product yield, which are exemplified by (1) manipulation of the physiochemical properties of zeolite-based catalysts for improving the selectivity and yield in direct CO_2 hydrogenationinto C^+_2 hydrocarbons (such as aromatics); (2) preparation of integrated zeolite-based catalysts using additive manufacturing techniques for high throughput CO_2 conversion processes; and (3) bespoke design of zeolite-based catalysts to be applied in the emerging fields such as electrocatalysis and nonthermal plasma catalysis.

Review on selective catalytic reduction technology of diesel engines
Diesel vehicles are an important source of nitrogen oxide (NO_x) emissions in the atmosphere. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems are the primary post-treatment devices for reducing NO_x emissions from diesel eng...
Study on adsorption of NO and NH_3 on VPO/TiO_2 catalysts by DFT simulation
Nitrogen oxides (NO_x), as one of the main atmospheric pollutants, seriously affect environmental safety and human health. Selective catalytic reduction (NH_3-SCR) is the most effective treatment method for NO_x removal...
Enhanced wet anaerobic digestion of straw by co-culture of white-rot fungus and anaerobic sludge
Straw is one of the widely available renewable biomass resources. However, due to the difficult degradability of the lignin structure, wet anaerobic fermentation is generally not highly utilized for straw at present. In...
Evaluation of environmental and economic benefits of CO_2 utilization technologies and their future development trends
In 2022, global CO_2 emissions reached 36.07 Gt, but only 230 Mt of CO_2 were captured and utilized, accounting for just 0.64% of the total emissions. To achieve the ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2060, CO_2 emis...
Inter-provincial transfer of carbon dioxide from construction industry in 30 provinces of China
Carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions from construction industry in China account for approximately half of the country′s total CO_2 emissions. Given the frequent trade in the construction industry among regions, it is crucial...
