Abstract
Thе article focuses on analyzing the metaphoric mechanism of the German ichthyonyms using sings of the IRREAL CRAETURE source domain. This source domain supplies metaphorical motivators to the sphere of German ichthyological nomenclature on the basis of the gestalt variety of the associative metaphorical motivation.
