Journal Title: Postępy Nauk Medycznych - Year 2010, Vol 23, Issue 8
Abstract
We retrospectively evaluated the results of 214 renal biopsies performed in adult patients at the Department of Nephrology, Medical Centre of Postgraduate Education during 2005-2010. Patient age, indication for renal biopsy and results of light- and immunofluorescent microscopic renal tissue examination were cross-analysed.The most common indications for biopsy were: nephrotic syndrome (n=64; 29.9%), isolated non-nephrotic proteinuria (n=26; 12.2%), proteinuria of varying intensity accompanied by hematuria (n=69; 32.2%), isolated hematuria (n=26; 12.2%) and rapidly progressive renal failure of unknown etiology (n=24; 11.2%). Focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis was found in 22.73%, primary membranous glomerulonephritis in 11.62%, primary mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis in 2.02%, IgA nephropathy was present in 14.14%, and renal amyloidosis in 5.56% of biopsies. Lupus nephritis and minimal change glomerulonephritis were found in 4,54% and 2,52% respectively. Minimal changes glomerulonephritis was found in 5 patients. The crescentic glomerulonephritis occurred at 16 people. Other causes of glomerulopathy occurred at a frequency of less than 5% each. The other results were correct in the assessment of histopathological study (n=16; 8.08%). Most patiens (164 people) were under the age of 65 (76.6%)
