Journal Title: Ido-Ruch dla Kultury - Year 2001, Vol 2, Issue 0

Abstract

Idōkan karate is the system based on many-years experience of prof. Wally Strauss, which studied several martial arts: Okinawan and Japanese karate, Chinese wushu and tai-chi, Japanese jūjutsu and others. One of idōkan karate`s foundations is the permanent movement rule, that should be kept in each technique and each form. Idōkan karate accentuates cooperation with dōjō-partner and avoids sport competition, because it make students` technique deformed. This style prefers fighting by with lighting speed series of hits and kicks, especially upon most sensitive organs and body parts; also with using throws and mainsprings. This style really lives in its masters, which still improve and develop it. But the permanent movement rule cannot be broken any time.
