CHARACTERISTIC OF THE OTOACOUSTIC EMISSION IN PATIENTS WITH EXTRAVASAL COMPRESSION OF VERTEBRAL ARTERY.

Abstract

The study analyzed data from 47 patients with vertebrobasilar insufficiency and hearing loss. The mean age of the patient-group was 45,4 ± 6,5 years and ranged from 26 to 59 years. Patients with Meniere’s disease, acute pathology and otosclerotic changes were excluded from the study. Cochlear function of all the patients was examined by: tone threshold audiometry, impedance, distortion product otoacoustic emissions. Our results show that DPOAE has high sensitivity to determine initial manifestations of cochlear disorders in patients with SHL of vascular origin. High speed and convenience of DPOAE, could be useful for the early diagnosis of cochlear disorders that could prevent progression of hearing disorders in patients with SHL.
