Abstract
Nowadays civil society in Ukraine has become one of the decisive factors of the formation and development of the modern independent democratic state. It has alsobecome a key area of effective solutions to a wide range of issues of political and socio-economic development of our country. Currently the process of scientific understanding of civil society problems in Ukraine is going on. It has already got some significant results, but, so far, their influence on the corresponding process is insufficient. One of the important directions of the study of civil society is an understanding of the content and essence of civil society. Today the features of the historical conditions of its origin and evolution are still topical issues.
