COGNITIVE METAPHOR AS THE WAY OF CONCEPT BREXIT DETAILING (ON THE MATERIAL OF BRITISH PRESS)

Abstract
The given article is devoted to the problem of cognitive metaphors as the way of concept Brexit detailing and actualizing in British press. The concept Brexit is reviewed within the two approaches: cognitive and field. As mental formation concept Brexit is proved to have conceptual, evaluative, imaginative constituents and personal life experience. At the same time as field formation with its dominant and periphery concept Brexit is verbalized in language as lexico-grammatical field Brexit. It is proved that concept Brexit as complex mental formation like other concepts is characterized by the diffuse boundaries and the ability to be directed to the unlimited number of some other concepts. It is found out that cognitive metaphor as the way of quality transference from one subject, phenomenon. process to some other one is the way of reality studying and newly coined concept Brexit detailing. It’s confirmed that cognitive metaphor usage makes it possible to compare newly coined concept Brexit which needs investigating and specificating with some other well known concepts. It’s proved that cognitive metaphor usage makes it possible not only to give a notion of Brexit as a referendum for UK exit from the EC, not only to enlarge the studying range, when abstract notion is represented as concrete one, when unknown, little known items are given through the prism of the well known for the society items, but also to appeal to personal life experience, to the evaluative system of people, provoking positive/ negative appraisal. Concept Brexit cognitive metaphors investigation is perspective with the pragma-communicative sender intentions investigation and with the Brexit images investigation within the British press texts.
