Journal Title: Ideação - Year 2019, Vol 21, Issue 1

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the interference of the daily use of cell phones on the study time of Dom Helder Câmara Law School students from the 1st semester of 2019, having as theoretical framework the concepts of interference by Addam Gazzeley and Larry Rosen and the concepts of Christian Barbosa's Time Triad. The study methodology was the survey, using the technique of the Questionnaire to collect data. The qualitative and quantitative analysis focused on the use of students' time in two activities: using the cell phone and personal study. The collection took place during the Time Management Studies Methodology classes of the Academic Proficiency discipline in the first semester of 2019. The sample had 133 students from the 1st Period. 75 women and 58 men from 2 morning classes and 2 night classes. Totaling 84 in the morning and 49 in the night. The average age of the participants is 19.4 years. The results show a greater amount of time spent fiddling with the cell phone; they also show less dedication of time for personal study compared to time using the cell phone; they show that most students, night and day, spend more time using their cell phones than studying; that students who spent more time on personal study spent up to 2:30 am using their cell phones.
