Compensation ability in oilseed rape damaged by stress factors occurring in different stages of plant development and their effectiveness
Journal Title: Rośliny Oleiste - Oilseed Crops - Year 2011, Vol 32, Issue 2
Abstract
The process of compensation is based on ability of every living organism to equalize effects of detrimental factors. In plant world compensation process is universally present. Oilseed rape is characterized by a very high compensation ability. The course of compensation process and its effectiveness is dependent on the kind, intensity and term of stress factor occurrence. Oilseed rape plants compensate most intensively the injury of flower buds of the main raceme, to a smaller degree the injury of pods, and generally the highest detrimental effect on seed yield is exerted by high plant losses in winter or strong injury directly before harvest.
