CROSS-POLAR ROUTES AS A FACTOR THAT CHANGED THE GEOMETRIC LAYOUT OF LONG-HAUL AIRCRAFTS FLYING OVER LONG DISTANCES

Abstract

A structural-parametric analysis of the effect of infrastructure constraints in the basing of long-haul aircrafts on the choice of the aerodynamic balancing scheme of the aircraft was carried out. As a criterion, the cargo-range capability diagram is considered, and the normal, triplane and "flying wing" aerodynamic balancing schemes of the aircraft are considered as alternatives. It is shown that during the flights through the Arctic regions, the prospective "flying wing" aircrafts can fly from North America (Chicago, New York) to the airports of Indochina (Bangkok, Taipei) without stopping. The project of an aircraft designed according to the "flying wing" scheme is proposed and compared with modern aircrafts of this class A-380-800 and B-747-400. It is shown that the maximum permissible dimension of a long-haul aircraft with high passenger capacity pertaining to the takeoff weight can be reduced to 500 tons.
