Abstract

Purpose. The aim of the article is the development of theoretical, methodological provisions and practical recommendations for the development of pig breeding at agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. Methodology of research. A set of methods and approaches that allowed the conceptual unity of research to be realized are used in the article. The following methods and techniques are used for the realization of the tasks: monographic, statistical groupings, correlation and regression analysis and graphic – for the comprehensive study of the current state of production of pig production and the determination of factors influencing its competitiveness; selective – for a detailed survey of individual farms producing pigs. Findings. It is established that now the process of monopolization of pig production by highly concentrated agricultural enterprises is traced. The main factors of this process are high efficiency of production and sales of manufactured products; the absence of marketing problems and the provision of balanced feeds, which leads to a reduction in the number of non-integrated farms keeping pigs. Originality. It is proved that the main factor influencing the attraction of private capital to the pig industry is new opportunities for the formation of competitive advantages on the basis of diversification of production activities of agricultural enterprises specializing in the production of barley and corn. Despite the significantly lower level of profitability of pork production in highly concentrated enterprises of the corporate sector compared with the growing of corn and barley, the number of agricultural enterprises with a population of more than 5,000 pigs. Practical value. It is proved that the violation of the price relationships between the input resources used for the production of pig production and the value of the purchasing prices for pigs has become economically unprofitable to develop the industry for small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises.
