Abstract
In literary studies, dedication is traditionally interpreted as a form of expression gratitude, friendship; a formal gesture due to certain mercenary motives, duty, tradition; a form of game with the recipient and readers. At the same time, it is a mechanism for memory storing and retransmitting. Dedications as markers of individual memory are the most widely represented in the literature of the 1920s. This group includes: 1) “dedications to memory” (in contrast to other dedication models, the connection with memory studios is fixed here visually), the “addressees” of such ded- ications passed away, inspiring the writers to keep memories about these people in their works; 2) dedication to a brother or sister containing childhood memories; 3) situational dedications to friends or loved ones associated with the desire to capture the memory of private life situations witnessed or participated by the author and addressee of the dedication. During the 1920s the historical memory of the revolution and the civil war was still bright; this led to the emergence of a series of dedications to historical figures, collective recipients associated with the events. In the framework of cultural memory there is a so-called “intertextual memory”. Establishing connections with the product / works of other authors, the dedication can clarify the range of prototext, becomes an important interpretative code, which allows the recipient to adequately perceive the work, to detect hidden meanings in it. In a separate group, we distinguish seven dedications, which include the names of certain areas, thus the author fixes in his work important “memory places”. In addition to memories and recollections, an important mechanism for the functioning of memory is forgetting. As you know, every epoch determines its own special paradigm of what is worth to be remembered and to be forgotten. This statement is valid in the situation with the writer’s dedication, which the authors for various reasons removed from their works.
