DEGREE OF ISOTROPY SURFACE STRUCTURE OF MACHINE ELEMENTS AND WEAR PROCESS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 246, Issue 6

Abstract

In this paper, the influence of figuration of surface geometric structure on the run of wear processes of frictional pairs is discussed. Arrangement of the traces of machining determined the structure degree of isotropy. The paper discusses the characteristics of surface layers with particular emphasis on surface structure isotropy. The results of experimental investigations were carried out on a test stand designed and made for the research. As the measures of wear processes, one accepted the following quantities: mass decrement of samples and changes of roughness parameters Ra. The results of experimental investigations registered for the different degrees of isotropy of structures and thus traces of machining. The investigations confirm the influence of the tested factor on the intensity of the wear process.
