Design-Build A Microcontroller-Based Fire Detection System In Classroom

Journal Title: Jurnal Ilmiah Dinamika Rekayasa - Year 2019, Vol 15, Issue 2

Abstract

Classrooms are the place where learning processes occur for students. In classrooms are equipped with the supporting facilities that will provide comfort to students when they are studying, in addition to these facilities also required the safety support facilities. From the results of observations and interviews with elementary school students, not all students are aware of the importance of these facilities, therefore several studies have provided solutions that are able to prevent the occurrence of fires in classrooms and outreach to schools to foster the mindset of school children regarding safety. In addition to the prevention efforts, innovation is also needed to rescue efforts if there are some students who are trapped in the class during a fire, while the proposed solution is Help Me, a prototype device uses PIR sensor that will detect movement and Arduino Uno microcontroller as information processor obtained from sensor and forwarded to the buzzer. With the sound of the buzzer, the rescue team can find out the whereabouts of the victims and can make it easier to evacuate the victims of the fire. This study uses design thinking with the pattern of the Double Diamond approach introduced by the British Design Council. This approach aims to produce technological innovations that are the right solution to user problems.
