Determination of Material Thicknesses in Protective Clothing for Firefighters
Journal Title: Fibres and Textiles in Eastern Europe - Year 2018, Vol 26, Issue 2
Abstract
The basic protective clothing for firefighters does not contact the flame and provides a relatively short exposure time to heat flux of prescribed density. Simultaneously the structure is subjected to sweat diffusion from the skin. The problem is determined mathematically by means of second-order differential equations accompanied by a set of boundary and initial conditions. Determination of the material thicknesses is gradient oriented. The optimal thicknesses are determined as a numerical example.

Antimicrobial Activity of Coleus Ambonicus Herbal Finish on Cotton Fabric
An extract obtained from Coleus Ambonicus was applied on cotton fabric by means of the exhaust, micro encapsulation and nano encapsulation methods, and the antimicrobial activity of the finished fabric assessed quantitat...
Unidirectional Torsion Properties of Single Silk Fibre
The unidirectional torsion properties of silk fibre were investigated on a purpose-built single fibre torsion tester. The torsional fracture angle and the number of cycles of torsion at breaking were recorded, and the ef...
Application of Raman Spectroscopy for Evaluation of Chemical Changes in Dibutyrylchitin Fibres
Microporous dibutyrylchitin (DBC) fibres formed by means of a dry-wet method were treated with aqueous solutions of potassium hydroxide. By applying various parameters of the alkaline treatment, fibres can be transformed...
Investigation of the Effect of Pile Height and Yarn Linear Density on the Performance Properties of Pile Loop and Cut-Pile Loop Knit Fabrics
This paper investigates the effects of fabric structural parameters such as pile yarn linear density (19.7, 22.7 and 24.6 tex), ground yarn linear density (100 and 78 dtex), sinker height (2.2 sinker; 2.5 sinker and 2.8...
