Different effects of postnatal caffeine treatment on two pentylenetetrazole-induced seizure models persist into adulthood.

Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2013, Vol 65, Issue 4

Abstract

Postnatal treatment with caffeine from P7 to P11 (10 or 20 mg/kg daily) resulted in transient changes in two pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced models of epileptic seizures characterized by spike-and-wave EEG rhythm in immature rats. To know if some changes persist into adulthood we studied these models in young adult Wistar rats.

Inhibition of NAD(P)H oxidase attenuates aggregation of platelets from high-risk cardiac patients with aspirin resistance.

Up to one-third of serious vascular events in high-risk patients is attributable to a failure of aspirin (ASA) to suppress platelet aggregation. We hypothesized that inhibition of NAD(P)H oxidase may inhibit aggregation...

The aim of this review was to assemble current literature data on nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappaB). Many authors believe that NF-kappaB, a transcription factor, has essential influence on the regulation of numerous gen...

Activation of nicotinamide N-methyltrasferase and increased formation of 1-methylnicotinamide (MNA) in atherosclerosis.

Nicotinamide N-methyltrasferase (NMMT) catalyzes the conversion of nicotinamide (NA) to 1-methylnicotinamide (MNA). Recent studies have reported that exogenous MNA exerts anti-thrombotic and anti-inflammatory activity, s...
