Dilemmas of design and use of simulation games in employee development

Abstract
Serious games are based on models representing reality. Simulations achieve advantage of dynamism thanks to the actions of players who are playing the provided simulation roles and using certain privileges and resources to achieve measurable results. Games are rarely used methods of training. This is due to reasons related to people involved in the training process and the difficulty of making games. This study presents dilemmas occurring in step of making a decision to include serious games in employee training programmes and in step of designing training games. Author of this paper refers to analog games (board games), although many observations also refers to computer games. This article aims to characterize key factors relevant to the application of serious games for the development of employee competencies. They have been recognized as dilemmas to be solved. Author posted comments about consequences of certain choices and also has formulated thesis on the observation of using serious games in practice and on the literature.
