Abstract
Within the scope of religious language, this paper aims to explore and evaluate individual naming and names as a religious manifestation of linguistic symbolism in relation to “Religion.” It restricts itself to the Muslim society and culture and grounds itself on a general approach that both makes historical references to the subject and considers its contemporary reflections. When did such naming begin? What kind of names were used? How much were they demanded? What kind of similarities and differences are there between the names in question in terms of structure and content? And what level of awareness do people have when they prefer a certain name? We aim to examine these kinds of questions and generate an awareness about whether there are controversial examples of such namings with respect to their appropriateness for the religion they’re based on. Meanwhile, we will examine the name “Muhyid’d-din”, which is important related to the subject matter, in a second article that we have prepared within the same framework with the present study and which will be published following this article
