Direct catalytic conversion of biomethane with CO[sub]2[/sub] and H[sub]2[/sub]O towards hydrogen and hydrocarbons

Journal Title: CHEMIK nauka-technika-rynek - Year 2011, Vol 65, Issue 6

Abstract

This paper presents results of catalytic conversion of biomethane, with total amount up to 2.5% of CO[sub]2 [/sub]and H[sub]2[/sub]O in CH[sub]4[/sub] stream, to hydrogen and aromatics and other hydrocarbons. Reaction was carried out on the typical catalyst Mo/HZSM -5, new one Re/HZSM - 5 with and without oxidants (CO[sub]2[/sub], H[sub]2[/sub]O) in methane stream. The presence of C[sub]O2[/sub] and H[sub]2[/sub]O in methane stream has a positive effect on stability and activity of catalysts. On the other hand the lack of CO[sub]2[/sub] and H[sub]2[/sub]O in methane stream caused deactivation of Re/HZSM -5 and unstable work of catalyst.
