Dust creation during birch plywood production

Abstract

Dust creation during birch plywood production. The article describes the results of particle size distribution of dust created during plywood production. The plywood production was based on birch wood from Belarusian resources. The particle-size distribution of dust sampled on plywood producing line was determined by two methods. The sieve analysis was used for determination of general particle-size distribution. Then the fraction of the smallest dust particles was analyzed by the laser diffraction method. This procedure allowed the evaluation of the content of very fine particles which, when dispersed in the air, could be the inhalable and respirable fraction.
