Dyeing Effluent Treatment to Reduce Total Dissolved Solids and Coloring Matter Using Coir-Pith Method

Abstract

The naturally occurring dyeing effluents which contain the organic dye stuff collected from various parts of Tiruppur city were taken for the analysis and the removal of coloring matter, odor and the total dissolved solids present in the samples have been successfully carried out using coir-pith method. Compared to the original value of the raw samples, experimental results showed that almost half of the amount of the total dissolved solids has been reduced. This considerable amount of reduction of the coloring matter present in the sample was confirmed by UV-Visible spectral analysis.
