Early evaluation and under field conditions of resistance to Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet of plants of cv. Great dwarf (AAA) obtained through tissue culture and the induction of mutations
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2003, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
The present work was carried out in the Plants Biotechnology Institute of the Central University of Las Villas. The plant material from the cv. Grande Naine (AAA) was treated with physical mutagenic agents(gamma radiation 60Co source) to induce genetic variability. The behaviour of the population to the black Sigatoka was evaluated. A somaclone was selected by its disease resistance and was in vitro multiplied and the plants were acclimatized to evaluate its behaviour facing the disease on greenhouse conditions and in a second cycle of multiplication in the field. The results showed that in the majority of the plants were not found differences respect cv Grande Naine, just one presented similar reaction to cv. FHIA 18 (AAAB) (partially resistant) as for the variable evaluated, being obtained a frequency of 0.018% for this character. This plant was named IBP 446. After 60 days of application of the mycelial homogenized of M. fijiensis in micropropagated plants of this somaclone, differences in the respect affectation states were found at susceptible witness in greenhouse conditions. When plants of the IBP 446 were evaluated in a second cycle of multiplication differences were found with the susceptible control only at flowering, while they behaved similar at susceptible control in the crop.

Response of Phaseolus vulgaris L. lines in late sowing
Knowing the response of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) to the environmental factors present in the different sowing seasons has been recognized as an important criterion in the genetic improvement for tolerance to...
In vitro phosphate solubilization by Aspergillus and Penicillium strains and coffee plants growth promotion (2019)
The availability of phosphorus in the soil for the growth of plants can be increased by the action of phosphate solubilizing microorganisms. The objective of this work was to determine the potential of Aspergillus and...
Use of temporary immersion systems for in vitro multiplication of shoots of Anthurium andraeanum Lind. var. Lambada
Two methods to improve the efficiency in the multiplication of shoots of Anthurium andraeanum Lind., they were used to optimize the frequencies of immersion of the explants using a System of Temporary Immersion. The rel...
In vitro establishment and multiplication of Citrus aurantifolia Christm. Swing. var. ‘Mexicana’ from seeds
Citrus fruits are crops with high economic and medicinal value. The creole lime (Citrus aurantifolia Christm. Swing) var. ‘Mexican’ is widely consumed in Cuba but the incidence of pests and diseases has affected its pr...
In vitro multiplication of ginger Zingiber officinale Roscoe, cv. ‘Grand Caiman’ in Temporary Immersion System
Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is a plant of great interest for its properties and uses. Although it has been in vitro propagated in semi-solid culture media, the use of Temporary Immersion Systems (TIS) could be an...
