ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC RATIONALE USE OF MINE WATERS AS SECONDARY RESOURCES

Abstract

Purpose. To substantiate and prove the ecological and economic feasibility of using mine water as secondary resources. Methodology. To lessen the load it has been decided to use a mechanism of “greening” the productions. Besides the ecologization of production, there is a resource saving campaign with a complex approach, which includes gathering, pro- cessing of secondary resources and raw materials saving. Results. As an example mine №10 “Novovolynska” has been selected. After the analysis it has been identified that the water usage of this mine is 10800 liters per shift with yearly aver- aged temperature of 16 оС. With the new approach there is no need to use tap water heated by charcoal combustion, be- cause mine water could equally be used for washing. Originality. The mine water is being purified and as it already is warm, it doesn’t need much heat to reach 50оC. After the miners done washing, the water gets into heat exchangers and heats more mine water which is supplied in the heat pump sevaporators. This way the reliability of the whole system in- creases and the tank-accumulator of sewage improve the energy characteristics of the heat recovery system. Practical value. This article contains calculations which prove that this method is more efficient, reliable and much less costly than the “tap water – charcoal” method. Also there is a proof of its lower environmental impact level with respective calcula- tions.
