Abstract

World global processes taking place at the beginning of the 21st century have been marked by the penetration of innovative technologies into all the spheres of activities of the society. Special attention was paid to the religious sphere that was reflected in the visual representation of sacred objects. In order not to lose its vitality and importance, the state-of-the-art sacral design develops simultaneously in rather conflicting areas of focus, following new tendencies in the art influenced by the postmodernism aesthetics. The main trend maintains profiles of classic printed literature of divine service and another trend keeps to the digital format of mobile applications. The commercial aspect that defines value criteria for the particular form of design in the contemporary world defines also the demand for the polygraphic products of religious content. Reproducing the historic models of ancient Cyrillic that can be found in scribal and early printed books is becoming a prevalent practice. In this case the in-depth analysis should be carried out to define the tendencies in the modern sacral design that have an influence on the formation of a new graphic image of the literature of divine service.
