ESTIMATION OF BRAKING PERFORMANCE OF VEHICLES OF CATEGORY N1

Abstract
An assessment of the braking performance of an automobile is an important step in the investigation of a road accident. The accuracy of this assessment affects all further stages of the investigation and the conclusions of the examination. Modern cars are equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS). Problem. Efficiency of braking of the car with ABS has improved. Existing methods of expert calculation do not take these changes into account. The calculated methods give a clearly significant error in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the braking of a car. This error can be 5% - 30%. The question arises about the legality of the application of these calculation methods. The concept of this work is to consider the emergency braking of a car as a stochastic process. Goal. The purpose of the study is to increase the accuracy in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the braking of vehicles of category N1. The main task of the work was the collection of statistical information on the dynamics of braking of vehicles of category N1. This information was collected during 2015-2018. The work was carried out by experts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Odessa, Lviv. Methodology. Special devices were used to evaluate the braking performance of VZM-300, Effect-2, AMX-520, EFТOR-2. Experimental studies were conducted at the place of the of a road accident. The vehicles were in good condition. These vehicles are Mercedes Vito, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Volkswagen Transporter, Ford Transit, Renault Trafic, Renault Kangoo, Renault Master, Citroen Berlingo, Citroen Jumpy, Opel Vivaro, Opel Movano and others. All vehicles were equipped with ABS. Experimental data were processed using mathematical statistics and probability theory methods. 80 measurements were selected. The random size of the deceleration of the vehicle was studied. Results. The mathematical expectation is 7.3 m/s2, the scattering rate is 3.55 m/s2, the normal deviation is 0.76 m/s2, the dispersion is 0.57 (m/s2)2, the coefficient of variation is 10.41 %. Originality. It is proved that the dynamics of braking of a vehicle of category N1 obeys the normal distribution law. Probability is 0.864 according to Kolmogorov criterion. Practical value. On the basis of the performed researches, corrections were made to the calculated formula for determining the deceleration of the car. The correction coefficient is entered in the formula. For vehicles of category N1, this ratio is 1.055-1.075. As a result of the research, a method was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of vehicle braking. This method passes the process of introduction into the expert service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
