Features of functioning and development of a higher educational establishment in in conditions of formation of knowledge economy

Abstract
Annotation. The purpose of this article is to study the peculiarities of the higher educational establishment functioning and development in the process of knowledge economy formation. Methodology of research. The objectives of the article implemented by using the following general and specific research methods: analysis and synthesis, systematization and generalization, system and multiagent approach. Findings. The economic essence of the category "development" from the standpoint of the analysis of the content of the most common concepts is investigated. Taking into account the obtained results, in the given research the own definition of the concept "development of a higher educational institution" is proposed, on the basis of application of methods of analysis, synthesis, as the formation of a new quality in the system of material and ideal elements of educational activity through the search of potential in the educational process. The main modern concepts of functioning and development of a higher educational institution are analyzed. Practical value. It is proved that the peculiarities of functioning and development of a higher educational institution depend on the traditions of higher education formed in certain states under the influence of historical, social, economic, political, scientific, religious and other factors.
