Ferro A6s subtract for Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna (APVA) at 60 GHz

Journal Title: MALTESAS Multi-Disciplinary Research Journal - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

This paper describes the design of a 60 GHz short-range wireless communication system. The antenna was designed by considering the ideal requirements of a wireless antenna which is lightweight, small in size, low profile and can be used off-ground for the ease of mobility. A Vivaldi antenna is a planar travelling wave antenna with end fire radiation which consists of radiating and feed structure. For the final design, the radiating structure was designed by using an antipodal Vivaldi antenna. The antenna was simulated by using CST Microwave Studio software and then fabricated on a Ferro A6s board. From the simulation results obtained, the antennas could operate efficiently at the designated frequency with gain more than 3 dB. The bandwidth of the Antipodal Vivaldi antenna was observed to make it suitable to be used as a 60 GHz antenna for wireless communication.
