Abstract

The article considers the preconditions and factors contributing to the formation of the motivation of teaching foreign language students of non-language specialties and increasing the efficiency of practical classes in a foreign language in order to further realize the acquired knowledge and advanced speech skills in the professional sphere as well as in all other possible situations of foreign language communication. From the point of view of psychology, motivation as a set of motives – causes, urges, aspirations is a powerful impetus to human activity and, in particular, one of the qualificative factors that determines students’ performance in practical classes and the effectiveness of foreign language training at a certain completed stage of teaching. Today, the well established phrases concerning the importance of perfect knowledge in a foreign language, at least in English as a priority language of the global world, are perceived quite commonly and articulate the awareness and the perceived need for most people to know foreign languages. There is no need to prove – it is necessary to motivate. Based on a set of positive motives, one who learns is capable of actively, purposefully and qualitatively multiplying his knowledge potential. As for the teaching foreign language students of non-language specialties, the presence of positive teaching motivation is ensured by the creation of favorable conditions for pedagogical interaction and the interrelationship between psychological and pedagogical – cognitive, moral, and emotional aspects of educational activities. Modern, meaningful and interesting foreign language lessons, in the context of which not only the educational information is delivered, but also the basic communicative function is realized within the interaction of participants of the educational process presents one of the main prerequisites for the formation of positive motivation. To create a motivational background with the use of modern and interesting teaching and learning methods, as well as high level of education, experience, professional competence is one of the priorities of a modern foreign language teacher.
