GEOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS FOR LOW AND INTERMEDIATE LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE REPOSITORY (LILW) IN POLAND

Abstract
The fi nal closure of the only National Radioactive Waste Repository in Różan is in progress. Continuous fl ow of radioactive waste and nuclear energy development plans in Poland make that the selection of a new location for repository of LILW is an important issue. Searching for a new place to store radioactive waste from various industries takes into account geological, environmental and socio-economic impact. The article presents the previous work related to the indication of the location of a new radioactive waste repository. The criteria of suitability of the site for the construction of the facility and conditions excluding or limiting the location are also pointed in the paper.
