HEALTH SAFETY COMPETENCE OF THE FUTURE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS: ESSENCE AND CRITERIA

Abstract
The competence-oriented approach to understanding the essence of the concepts "competence" and "health-saving competence" are substantiated in the article the distinctive feature of which is the orientation of the educational process to the formation of person’s general competence, its integrated characteristic being associated with person- and activity-oriented approaches to learning, as it relates to learner’s personality and can be implemented and verified in the process of executing a particular set of actions by a person. The focus is directed towards the peculiarities of the professional competence of future primary school teachers who must have skills in acquiring information, speech culture, adequate perception of reality, realization of the educational process, forming the foundations of the worldview, using theoretical knowledge in practice, establishing contact with pupils, every pupil, planning professional activity and possessing good command of research methodology. The criteria of the future primary school teachers’ health preservation competence have been determined: cognitive ‒ the completeness and differentiation of students’ knowledge about health, its components, about a healthy way of life, about the ways of improving health reserves, knowledge about the health care of primary school children and the creation of a health-saving environment for primary school; motivational ‒ the presence of stable motivation for a healthy way of life, awareness of its essence and purpose, the mood for health-saving activities with primary school pupils; activity-centred ‒ the presence of practical skills and health-saving skills as well as experience in implementing health-saving activities necessary for the preservation and maintenance of health, self-actualization of potential opportunities for one’s own health, which focuses on improving all participants’ health within a pedagogical process. It is emphasized that future primary school teachers’ health-saving competence has a personal character and is formed on the basis of accepting the value of a person’s healthy way of life in close interaction with his / her ability to determine the main goal ‒ health-care, responsibility for a healthy way of life and management of person’s own vital activities. It provides a valuable attitude to their own health and health of their future pupils, the ability and willingness to achieve the goal of health-care activities s well as to introduce health-saving technologies, solve problems and eliminate contradictions.
