Ichtiofauna rzeki Elbląg

Abstract
Fish distribution and abundance were investigated in the Elbląg River system (Vistula Lagoon catchment area) in years 2004–2009. A total of 3522 fish and lampreys individuals were captured at 32 sites by electrofishing and 25 species were identified. The greatest abundance of species was observed at lower segments of the Dzierzgoń, Wąska, Elszka and Kumiela Streams. In the smaller streams flowing into the Elbląg River and Lake Drużno, the number of species did not exceed four. The most common were: Barbatula barbatula (62.5% of sites), Lampetra planeri (46.9%), Pungitius pungitius (43.8%), and Salmo trutta, Gobio gobio and Gasterosteus aculeatus (37.5% each). The numerically dominant species were: Gobio gobio (19.5%), Rutilus rutilus (16.4%), Barbatula barbatula (13.7%) and Phoxinus phoxinus (12.3%). A negative impact of dams, which disabled fish migration from the Elbląg River and Lake Drużno, was evident.
