Journal Title: Zarządzanie ochroną przyrody w lasach - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
The identification of the sources of water, air and soil pollution is an indispensable condition for the determination of the level of hazard posed for natural environment, for the indication of the factors degrading the ecosystems as well as for the execution of an analysis of diverse variants of the elimination or minimization of their unwanted effects. The activities are particularly relevant in the regions with exceptional natural treasures covered by various forms of nature protection. The town of Tleń is an exceptional region for continuous monitoring of natural environment due to is location within the “Bory Tucholskie” forest whose part, as a National Park, has been included in the World Nature Heritage List as a” World Biosphere Reserve”. Even slight negative changes in a biotope resulting from the pollution of air, water and soil may cause irreversible and even catastrophic outcomes disturbing the regular functioning of the ecosystems surrounding the town, and throughout the network of ecological relationships, in a rapid way, the whole mezzo-region. Even tiny fluctuation in the environment may disturb the regularly functioning network of interactions among various plant and animal organisms. The aim of the questionnaire survey, held in 2014 and carried out by the students of Gdańsk University of Technology, Koszalin University of Technology and Higher Environment Management School in Tuchola, was to locate and determine the possible threats originating from the economic/every-day activities of inhabitants. The result of the study was an analysis of the pollution origins and various methods of their elimination or reduction.
