In vitro conservation of sweet potato clones under minimal growth conditions
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2003, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Nodal segment of INIVIT B-88, CEMSA 78-354, INIVIT B-90-510 and Cautillo sweet potato in vitro plants clone were conserved for one year in culture medium with abscisic acid 10.0 mg.l- with high survival and recovery percentages without subculture to fresh medium. Reducing of conservation temperature to 17 ± 2ºC decreased the rate growth in all clone and possibility their conservation for one year with high survival percentages. The reduction of salt concentration of culture medium to 50% did not decrease the rate growth in relation with a standard culture medium for this was impossible to conserve the sweet potato clones for a period over six month in this conditions.

Differentiation of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cultivars by leaf tissue response exposed to drought and salinity stress
The identification of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cultivars capable to tolerate abiotic stress without affecting its yield is a purpose of the breeding programs of this legume. The objective of this work was to differentiate P...
Total phenol content in seed coat of three cultivars of Phaseolus vulgaris L.
The colors of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) are related to some of their properties. The objective of this work was to determine the total phenol content in the seed coat of three different bean cultivars. See...
Ochrobactrum anthropi, contaminants of in vitro culture of sugarcane cells and tissues
The purpose of this paper was to report, for first time, the presence of Ochrobactrum anthropi as contaminant of in vitro cell and tissue culture of sugarcane. Bacteria contaminant of in vitro plants were isolated direct...
Extraction of total RNA in plants and filamentous fungi
RNA of high quality is a common element required as starting material in the majority of the techniques used in molecular studies either in plants or in phytopathogenic fungi. In this manuscript we emphasized in the ch...
Morphological and agronomic characterization of potato plants cv. ‘Andinita’ starting from planting in field of microtubers obtained in temporary immersion systems
The potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the most important crops worldwide. Use microtubers as planting material could mean a breakthrough for seed production programs. This study aimed to determine the morphologic...
