INTERCULTURALITY IN AFGHANISTAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present and understand the cultural values of different groups of countries and organizations participating in International Assistance Force for Afghanistan (ISAF) and its successor, “Resolute Support Mission”. Taking into consideration the number of countries and organizations participating in this mission, I am going to shortly refer to the way in which the American, German, Dutch and Afghan cultures are interacting and develop efficient functional mechanisms, in a multinational environment, specific to a coalition of forces. The article also takes into consideration some elements influencing interrelationship in between Coalition’ members and its level of interoperability, with effects on the mission’ accomplishment, in connection with operational requirements and with the existing conditions within Afghanistan Theater of Operations.
