Intubation in patients with restricted spine mobility - A clinical study
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Anesthesiology - Year 2019, Vol 10, Issue 2
Abstract
Tracheal intubation is necessary in patients with confirmed or suspected cervical spine instability. Patients are at risk in the laryngoscopic procedures following intubation. The severity of neurological sequel can be reduced when cervical injury is recognised early. The main aim in these patients is reduction of the movement of cervical spine during intubation. A prospective study was done in AJ Institute of Medical Sciences in this regard, taking into consideration the ease of intubation with simulated neck immobilisation using hard cervical collar. The demographic characteristics, clinical parameters, time taken for intubation, complications and the sequlae were evaluated and described.

Comparison of dexmeditomidine and magnesium sulfate as adjuvants to lidocaine for intravenous regional anaesthesia for prolongation of duration of analgesia
Background and Objectives: Intravenous regional anaesthesia (IVRA) is a very effective block for forearm and hand surgeries, but its effectiveness is limited by its short duration of action. Dexmeditomidine and magnesium...
Single dose intravenous paracetamol versus intravenous tramadol in orthopedic surgeries: A randomized study
Objective: 1) To compare the duration as well as quality of analgesia after a single dose Intravenous Paracetamol and Tramadol. 2) to compare the side effect of two drugs. Method: The present study was carried out on 120...
Comparative study between topical nitroglycerine and intravenous lignocaine during laryngoscopy for attenuation of pressor response
Aim: The study was designed to find out pressor response during laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation with or without pre-treatment of 2% topical nitroglycerine and intravenous lignocaine respectively. Method:150 norm...
Comparison of two doses of intravenous Dexmedetomidine 0.6mcg/kg and 1mcg/kg given prior to induction in attenuation of hemodynamic stress response of laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation
Background: Laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation is accompanied by sympathomimetic stimulation resulting in increase in Heart Rate and Arterial blood pressure. These hemodynamic adverse effects are minimized by multi...
Comparative study of intrathecal isobaric levobupivacaine 0.5% with isobaric ropivacaine 0.5% for infra umbilical surgeries
Objective: To compare the block characteristics and haemodynamic stability of intrathecal isobaric levobupivacaine 0.5% with isobaric ropivacaine 0.5% for infra umbilical surgeries under spinal anaesthesia. Method: 100 p...
