INVESTIGATION OF CHANGES OF FERROMAGNETIC FLUIDS VISCOSITY ACTIVATED BY STEADY MAGNETIC FIELDS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 236, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper presents the results of viscosity measurements for selected ferromagnetic fluids subjected to a DC magnetic field at various values of magnetic flux density. The research takes into consideration the dependency between shear rate and viscosity. The rate of change in viscosity under magnetic field influence is dependent on shear rate.

EVALUATION OF WEAR AND CORROSION RESISTANCE OF TITANIUM AND STAINLESS STEEL JOINTS Made OF Al, Cu AND Ni
In the present study, commercial pure titanium (Grade 2) was joined to the stainless steel (X5CrNi18-10) by diffusion bonding using aluminium, copper, and nickel as interlayers (100 μm). The investigation focuses on comp...
CATIONIC POLYMERS AS EFFECTIVE WATER-BASED LUBRICANT ADDITIVES
Studies on water as a lubricant base are being carried out primarily because of ecological considerations. Attempts are being made to improve its unfavourable tribological and physicochemical properties (e.g. corrosive a...
THE EFFECT OF HELICAL GROOVE PRESENCE ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL PERFORMANCE OF JOURNAL BEARINGS
The hydrodynamic bearings could suffer critical damages operating in contaminated environments that cause machine breakdown. In such hard operating conditions, hydrodynamic bearings with grooved journals are less sensiti...
COEFFICIENT OF RESTITUTION OF PARTICLE VELOCITY DURING COLLISION WITH A ROTOR MILL BLADE
In the paper, the authors proposed to measure influence of real conditions on the restitution of velocity k by using coefficient β as υ’’ = υ’k/β. The conditions are as follows: the particle is not spherical and the flow...
