Investigation of impact of the temperature gradient at plastic packaging sealing on its content quality

Abstract

We have accomplished analysis of factors influencing on food products preservation in polymeric packaging. Using finite element method we have calculated heat transfer from heating element of the welding stamp to product packaged in plastic cups. At the example of the honey packing we have analyzed the impact of welding stamp construction and material on product heating during the process of packaging sealing. We have analyzed the variations of the product temperature depending on packaging material type. As the result of the analysis we have proposed optimal stamp parameters and packaging materials which ensure minimal increase of the product temperature together with the proper weld seam quality. In the following research we have noticed the necessity of observation of the wide spectrum of packaged products due to different maximal safe heating temperature.
