Usefulness of CHROMagar Candida Medium, Biochemical Methods – API ID32C and VITEK 2 Compact and Two MALDI-TOF MS Systems for Candida spp. Identification
Journal Title: Polish Journal of Microbiology - Year 2016, Vol 65, Issue 1
Abstract
This study was conducted to compare of the yeasts identification results obtained with two new systems using the MALDI-TOF MS technique with the ones obtained using the routine identification methods of Candida spp. in clinical microbiology laboratories. All 124 Candida spp. isolates were recovered from the routine examination of clinical specimens in microbiological laboratories and collected in the Centre of Quality Control in Microbiology in Warsaw (Poland). Our findings confirm the high agreement (98%) of fungal identification using the standard, biochemistry laboratory methods and mass spectrometry technique.

Chaperone DnaJ Influences the Formation of Biofilm by Escherichia coli
DnaJ chaperone, a member of the so called DnaK-DnaJ-GrpE chaperone machine plays an important role in cell physiology. The ability of Escherichia coli ΔdnaJ mutant to form biofilm was studied. It was shown that this muta...
Recovery of Gram-Positive Cocci and Candida albicans from Peroxygens/Silver-Based Disinfectants
Neutralization method evaluation is an important first step in disinfectant validation study program. It is, also, crucial in the assessment of the efficiency of microbial recovery media in the presence of residual bioci...
Characterization of Endolithic Culturable Microbial Communities in Carbonate Rocks from a Typical Karst Canyon in Guizhou (China)
The endolithic environment is a ubiquitous habitat for microorganisms and a critical interface between biology and geology. In this study, a culture-based method and the phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA and intern...
The Effect of Fe[sub]3[/sub]O[sub]4[/sub] Nanoparticles on Survival of Probiotic Bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus PCM2499 at Lower pH
This paper presents a description of an experiment in which the survival rate of the probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus PCM2499 was increased only due to the presence of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles...
Characterization of Rhizobial Bacteria Nodulating Astragalus corrugatus and Hippocrepis areolata in Tunisian Arid Soils
Fifty seven bacterial isolates from root nodules of two spontaneous legumes (Astragalus corrugatus and Hippocrepis areolata) growing in the arid areas of Tunisia were characterized by phenotypic features, 16S rDNA PCR-RF...
