Magnetic Resonance Imaging in First Episode of Afebrile Seizures in Children: To Do or Not To Do That is the Question
Journal Title: Journal of Medical Research and Practice - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
Paediatricians and neurologists often find themselves in a dilemma when a child, developmentally normal or abnormal presents to them with a first episode of afebrile seizure. Though magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has travelled a long journey till now, a globally accepted updated consensus regarding this issue is still lacking. The authors intend to review pertinent issues and remarkable study findings till date in this article related to MRI in the first episode of afebrile seizure or new onset epilepsy. MRI when used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and electroencephalogram can provide much more than just treatment-altering etiological data.
