Mapping of Feasibility of Groundwater for Drinking Water Zones of Akkalkot Taluk, Solapur, India using GIS Techniques

Abstract
The chemical characteristics of groundwater with respect to drinking water quality in Akkalkot Taluk of Solapur District have been studied. 68 groundwater samples were examined for pH, nitrate, dissolved solids, alkalinity, hardness, fluoride, chloride, calcium, iron, magnesium, sulphate. The obtained values are compared with WHO water quality standards and concluded that most of the groundwater samples are potable for drinking.
