Mazanoma atlantica sp. nov., new Acanthosomatidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomoidea) from extra-Andean Patagonia

Journal Title: REVISTA CHILENA DE ENTOMOLOGÍA - Year 2022, Vol 48, Issue 2

Abstract

A new species is described, the second of the genus Mazanoma Rolston and Kumar, one of those Patagonian genera of Acanthosomatidae that are distributed outside the Subantarctic Forest. Its taxonomy and importance in the study of the biogeography of the family are discussed. The environment in which it was found is described, and its host plant is also hypothesized.
