METABIBLIOGRAPHY IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the special types of bibliography, which differs from others in the object of control: it is bibliographic manuals. The change of the traditional name of this kind bibliography – “bibliography of bibliography” on new – metabibliography – is explained. Purpose of the article is to find out the results of development of Ukrainian universal metabibliography and describe its modern state. Basic method of this research is bibliographic, which built on an exposure, analysis and description of researching object – metabibliographic manuals, which are getting ready and publishing in Ukraine. In addition, it is used a historiography method for comparison of publications, devoteded to the research theme. The results of development of metabibliography in Ukraine and its modern state are considered. The universal current and retrospective sources of metabibliography are described, and the first examples of metabibliography activity in an electronic environment are examined. Examples of branch metabibliography manuals of the last years are adduced. Research results can be used in educational practice to teaching the professional disciplines for future librarians-bibliographers. They also will be useful for the libraries, which plan to work in branch of metabibliography for determination the directions, which need the special attention and further development. It is find out, that in branch of metabibliography Ukraine on this time much organizations and establishments are working; the system of metabibliography manuals embraces variety bibliographic documents after its contents, setting, and composition of parts. However, as in planning of this work, so in system of manuals there are some defects. It is absence of coordination of work, methodical center and general plan. Overcoming of educed defects and further development of metabibliography in Ukraine will assist the improvement of dissemination of bibliographic information about the bibliographic resources of Ukraine.
