METHODS OF ESTIMATION OF THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS OF METALLIC FRICTION ELEMENTS OF BRAKE DEVICES

Abstract
The peculiarities of determining thermal characteristics of metallic friction elements of brake devices are illustrated. The method of regular mode for estimation the rates of heating and cooling the rims of metallic friction elements of brake devices is used. The degree of participation of each type of heat exchange is established. The rates of heating the rim and lateral wall of rear brake drums of vehicles are shown. The possibility of getting the brake drum rim info the thermal stability area for a long period of time is depicted. It is important to know the pattern of rates of heating and cooling in improvement of conventional brake devices and designing the new ones, as well as in investigating the mode of operation of their friction pairs.
