MODELING OF MAGNETIC FIELD DISTRIBUTION IN MAGNETOELASTIC SENSOR CORE

Abstract

Purpose. Application of mechanical pressure force to magnetoelastic sensor results in mechanical stress within the ferromagnetic core body of sensor and produces the variation of material permeability due to mechanical stress. The interaction between magnetic field and stress field causes the deformation of the magnetic field distribution and magnetic flux density. Originality. The paper deals with the approximate solution of the magnetic field distribution and magnetic flux density caused by mechanical stress. Methodology. The paper proposes one of the possibilities for modelling magnetic field distribution in the ferromagnetic core of the magnetoelastic sensor with respect to the variation of material permeability due to mechanical stress. To achieve the aim it were developed approximate electromagnetic field model, approximate stress field model, and model for solving boundary-value problem. Determination of the approximate magnetic field distribution in the sensor core was solved as boundary-value problem using the professional code Partial Differential Equation Toolbox of the package MATLAB. Results. The problem is solved for four various values of mechanical pressure force. The results obtained by modeling of given problem are presented in graphical form and they are compared with the experimental results. The results obtained by modelling of magnetic field distribution in the sensor core were validated by mean values of useful output sensor voltage for pressure force from interval 0 to 99 MPa.
