Journal Title: Український журнал дерматології, венерології, косметології - Year 2019, Vol 0, Issue 2
Abstract
Objective — to increase the effectiveness of the treatment of children with microsporia by using Breveluck probiotic-vitamin complex in the complex therapy. Materials and methods. 55 sick children aged from 1 to 13 years (27 girls and 28 boys) were under observation: 28 had microsporia of the scalp, 10 had microsporia of the scalp and smooth skin, 17 — microsporia of smooth skin. 16 patients had associated colds: acute respiratory viral infections (14 cases) and their complications: laryngotracheitis (1 case), bronchitis (1 case). All patients with microsporia were divided into 3 groups. Patients of the 1st and 2nd groups were prescribed griseofulvin tablets (21—22 mg/kg). The daily dose was divided into 2—3 doses. All patients of the 3rd group were prescribed terbinafine depending on body weight: with body weight up to 20 kg — 62,5 mg/day (1/4 tablet), from 20 to 40 kg — 125 mg/day (1/2 tablet), 40 kg — 250 mg/day (1 tablet) once a day. Systemic therapy was combined with external treatment with 2 % sertaconazole nitrate cream. All patients with microsporia were prescribed Breveluck probiotic-vitamin complex depending on age: young children (from 1 to 3 years) — 1 capsule 1—2 times a day, children aged 3 to 12 years — 1 capsule 3 times a day, children over 12 years — 1—2 capsules 3 times a day. The duration of treatment in the 1st and 2nd groups ranged from 3 to 6 weeks, in the 3rd group — from 1 to 5 weeks. Patients after treatment were recommended to take the probiotic-vitamin complex Breveluck for 30 days. Results and discussion. As a result of treatment, clinical and etiological recovery was achieved in all 55 patients. The duration of treatment in the 1st and 2nd groups ranged from 3 to 6 weeks, in the 3rd one — from 1 to 5 weeks. Introduction of probiotic-vitamin preparation Breveluck to the complex of treatment of patients with microsporia provided an opportunity to increase the effectiveness and improve the results of treatment, as also to avoid the development of concomitant colds. The drugs had good tolerability. No changes in blood and urine tests after the end of the course of therapy were noted. Conclusions. The complex of probiotic cultures with vitamin components Breveluck is effective and safe in the case of microsporia of the scalp and smooth skin in children. Introduction of the probiotic-vitamin preparation Breveluck in combination with systemic antimycotics griseofulvin and terbinafine and antifungal 2 % sertaconazole nitrate cream into the complex of treatment of patients with microsporia helps to improve the effectiveness of treatment, accelerate clinical and mycological healing, as well as prevent recurrence of the disease and acute respiratory viral infections. This method turned out to be effective in treating patients for microsporia with associated colds and their complications.
