Journal Title: Науковий вісник Південноукраїнського національного педагогічного університету імені К. Д. Ушинського - Year 2015, Vol 104, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper investigates educational potential of modern information and communication technologies in the training of future translators. Significant didactic educational opportunities of Internet resources based on technology Web 2.0 are stressed. These technologies provide the participants of the educational process with the ability to use resources of the Internet, as well as create their own Internet content. Seven formats of educational Internet resources are analyzed. Hotlist is viewed as a list of Internet sites students may look through in search of information. With the help of Multimedia Scrapbook students explore collections of multimedia links (photographs, maps, stories, facts, quotations, sound clips, videos), decide which resources they prefer, and create something new. Treasure Hunt is similar to a hotlist; but includes questions based on content from the sites. Insight Reflector is a list of sites, a list of questions for personal reflecting. They require written fixation and subsequent writing an essay. The format is used for studying topics which require a multi-angle approach. Concept Builder consists of a list of sites, questions of analytical character aimed at thematic concepts and a final problem question. In Subject Sampler format learners explore collections of multimedia links, including questions based on content from the sites; their personal feelings and reactions are engaged. WebQuest format uses the sites students select as the starting point for a complex activity that involves multiple perspectives, possible group collaboration, and a final project of their choosing. The structure, objectives and techniques of application of these formats in the professional training of future translators aimed at forming their foreign language communicative competence are outlined. The list of communicative skills pertaining to types of speech activity (reading, speaking, writing, listening), which get improved as a result of future translators cooperation with the above-mentioned formats of educational Internet-resources is determined.
