Motywy religijne w ukraińskiej tkaninie artystycznej końca XX wieku

Abstract

The paper presents a study of principal directions in the development of Ukrainian religion-themed artistic textile of the late 20th century. Key aspects of the influence on the activity of artists of cultural and political changes in society when Ukraine was declared an independent state in 1991 are analyzed. The role of art schools in Western Ukraine is outlined with respect to their influence on the development of artistic personalities, particularly in the field of designing religious textiles. Stylistic features of the works of art are investigated. The works of Ukrainian artists in this particular field are presented and creative interpretations of symbols and religious images are given.
